This Privacy Policy explains what information HomePermitPro (homepermitpro.com) collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language because a privacy policy you cannot understand is not much of a policy. If anything here is unclear, email us at info@homepermitpro.com and we will explain it.

HomePermitPro is an independent educational website about residential building permits, run by MD Saeed from the United States. We publish guides, cost breakdowns, and checklists for homeowners. The site is free to read, supported by advertising.

1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data

HomePermitPro is owned and operated by MD Saeed ("we," "us," or "our"). For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, MD Saeed is the data controller for information collected through this website. You can reach us with any privacy question or request at info@homepermitpro.com, or through our contact page.

2. Information We Collect

We keep data collection to the minimum the site needs to function. There are two broad categories:

Information you give us voluntarily

If you email us to request a free permit check, you choose what to share. Depending on your message, this may include:

Please do not send us sensitive documents you do not need to share. We do not need your Social Security number, financial account details, permit application paperwork, or property deeds to answer questions. If you send them anyway, we will delete them after handling your request.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our hosting and CDN infrastructure records technical data when your browser requests a page:

This information exists for security and performance purposes — blocking bots and abuse, diagnosing errors, and understanding which pages are slow. It is processed in aggregate form for statistics. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from server logs, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.

3. Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They are used for everything from keeping a shopping cart filled to remembering that you dismissed a popup. This site uses as few cookies as we can get away with:

Cookie typeWho sets itWhat it doesHow long it lasts
Essential / functionalHomePermitProRemembers basic session and preference state needed for the site to render correctlySession to 30 days
Advertising cookiesGoogle and its advertising partnersUsed to serve ads and, where allowed, make them more relevant based on your browsingVaries by vendor, up to 13 months or less

For the complete picture — what cookies are, the full category table, how Google AdSense advertising cookies (including the DART cookie) work, browser-by-browser instructions for controlling them, and how cookies relate to GDPR and CCPA rights — read our dedicated Cookie Policy.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Every major browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) lets you block third-party cookies, clear existing ones, or browse in a mode that discards cookies when you close the window. Blocking all cookies will not stop you from reading any article on this site — the content works without them. Blocking advertising cookies means the ads you see will be less relevant to you, but they will not disappear.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

HomePermitPro is free because advertising pays for hosting, research time, and everything else behind the site. We display ads through Google AdSense, and this section describes exactly how that works, because advertising is the part of privacy most policies hide in the fine print.

Where required by law — for example, in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area — a consent banner asks for your permission before advertising cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time. Where consent is not required, personalized advertising is limited as described in Google's policies. We do not control which specific ads Google serves; ad selection happens automatically on Google's side. For details on how Google handles data in advertising, read Google's Privacy & Terms page (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers. Advertising data flows between your browser and the ad vendor directly — we never see your advertising profile.

5. Analytics

We keep analytics deliberately lightweight. We use server-side aggregate statistics from our CDN (Bunny.net) — page views, referrers, countries, load times — and Google Search Console, which shows us which search queries bring readers to which articles. Neither tool hands us personal profiles of individual visitors. We do not use behavior-tracking heatmaps, session recording scripts, or cross-site advertising pixels of our own.

6. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to:

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

7. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA and UK Visitors)

If you visit from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data under the following legal bases:

8. Your Privacy Rights

If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR)

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have incorrect data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email info@homepermitpro.com — we respond within 30 days.

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we have never sold it. Exercising your rights will never result in discriminatory treatment — the site is free either way. Email info@homepermitpro.com and we will verify and process your request within 45 days.

Everyone else

If your state or country gives you privacy rights, write to us and we will honor them to the extent the law requires. You are never required to create an account or identify yourself to read this site.

9. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry-wide standard for how websites must respond to it, so we do not currently change behavior based on DNT headers. That said, as described above, we run no cross-site tracking of our own, and you can opt out of advertising cookies directly with Google and the other vendors listed in Section 4.

10. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We share personal data only in these narrow circumstances:

We have never sold personal information, and we will not start.

11. Data Retention

Email correspondence is kept as long as it is useful for follow-up questions and quality control, and is deleted when it no longer serves a purpose. Server logs containing IP addresses are retained for a short security window and then rotate out automatically. If you ask us to delete correspondence with you, we will honor that request — just email us from the same address.

12. Data Security

The site is served over HTTPS, hosted on hardened infrastructure with access restricted to the site operator, and backed up to encrypted cloud storage. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we apply sensible protections, keep software updated, and limit access to a single responsible person: MD Saeed.

13. Children's Privacy

HomePermitPro is written for adult homeowners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the site is not directed at children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

14. External Links

Our guides link to official sources — city building departments, the International Code Council, FEMA, HUD, and similar organizations — so you can verify what we say. Those websites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and which may differ from ours. This policy applies only to homepermitpro.com.

15. International Visitors

The site is operated from the United States and hosted on infrastructure that may process data in the US and elsewhere. If you visit from outside the US, note that information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from yours. Where required, we rely on consent and appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the site evolves — for example, if our advertising setup changes or new privacy laws take effect. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page so you can always see how current it is.

17. Contact Us About Privacy

Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy? Email info@homepermitpro.com or use our contact page. A real person — MD Saeed — reads and answers privacy emails, usually within one business day. You can also learn more about who runs this site on our about page.
